Appeals C’ttee okays Kwara Utd for NPFL

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee has ratified Kwara United promotion to the Glo Premier League.

The Appeals Committee upheld an earlier ruling of its Disciplinary and Organising (O&D) Committee on the hotly contested promotion ticket between the Afonja Warriors and Ranchers Bees.

The llorin-based side have now officially joined the trio, Wikki Tourists, 3SC and Gabros FC to the Nigerian top flight for the upcoming 2014/15 season.

Supersport.com gathered that the decision was taken at the end of the committee’s meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Kwara United and Ranchers Bees have been locked in the promotion battle since the last day match of the Nigeria National League (NNL) season which was abandoned at 62 minutes in Kaduna when scores stood at two goals apiece.

The replay of the balance of 28 minutes ordered by the Appeals Committee in their first ruling in Abuja also ended abruptly with suspected players and officials of Ranchers Bees beating the match officials.

The Organising and Disciplinary Committee thereafter awarded the match to Kwara United with Ranchers players and officials who assaulted the officials suspended for one year as well as compelled to pay damages.

The Appeals Committee in its latest ruling said there was no appeal against the decision of the NFF O&D dated January 15 as a perusal of the appeal of Ranchers Bees dated January 17 did not in any way relate to the decision of the committee.

It further stated that the appeal by Ranchers was predicated on the alleged use of players already substituted in the earlier match of November 15, 2014 in Kaduna.

The Appeals Committee latest ruling also had that match officials reports, documentary evidence, oral testimonies of both clubs and the secretariat of the NNL proved that both clubs erred in the use of players that were not eligible to be part of the remaining 28 minutes of the match between the clubs.

The Committee said an appeal against its decision shall lie to Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), and that a request for the ground of the decision must be sent in writing to the NFF within 10 days of the receipt of its notification.
