The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are set to play two friendly matches against the U-20 team of Ghana this month. The Nigerian U-20 boys’ team, otherwise known as the Flying Eagles, won the Super 6 tournament in Abuja on Sunday, as part of their preparations for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship.

Nigeria Football Federation has approved a request made by the Flying Eagles coaches to have a series of more friendlies before the start of the AYC in March. The games against the Ghana U-20 are expected to be a two-legged affair, with the first in Nigeria and the return leg in Ghana.

And Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba also confirmed that they are set to play against the Ghanaians on the 15th and 18th of February.

“We are likely to play Ghana on the 15th here, and play them on the 18th there in Ghana,” Manu confirmed. The Ghanaians are also preparing for the Africa Youth Championship, and they are grouped with South Africa, Mali and Zambia in group B. The Nigerians have won the tournament a record six times, the last being in South Africa in 2011 under John Obuh.
