Wenger sings Akpom praises
Nigerian youngster, Chuba Akpom has continued to win the heart of Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger following his cameo role in the 5-0 spanking of Aston Villa on Sunday.
Akpom, who was thrown into the fray in the 70th minute in place of top striker, Oliveir Giroud when the score line was at 3-0, made his presence felt with some dangerous incursion into the visitors goal area as one of his attempts at goal earned him a penalty for the gunners, which Santiago Cazorla converted in the 75th minute.
Wenger in his post-match conference described the young Nigerian forward as a promising player with quality to excel if given the opportunity.
“We could give another opportunity to Chuba Akpom and he has shown that he has quality when he comes on as well.
“[Chuba] looks dangerous and you can see that he will score goals.”
Wenger also had some sweet words for Giroud, whom he said has improved significantly since signing for Arsenal in 2012.
“He’s much more focused, technically he has improved, his feet have improved, his movement has improved and he has a big presence in the game,” the manager told Arsenal Player.
“It’s no coincidence that when he comes back, you feel strong.
“He got a kick during the game and I was a bit cautious with him,” added Wenger.
